Industrial dryers—used for minerals, fertilizers, coal, and sand—operate at lower power densities than grinding mills, but their girth gears face a distinct set of challenges. Continuous exposure to abrasive dust, moisture, and moderate heat demands robust sealing and corrosion-resistant surface treatment. The gear must also tolerate slight shell misalignment caused by uneven thermal expansion of the drying material bed.
Hanwei supplies dryer girth gears from Φ2 m to Φ10 m, tailored to the lighter-load but dust-heavy environment of drying operations. Our design approach incorporates generous backlash and modified tooth profiles to accommodate the shell movement typical in dryer service, reducing edge loading and premature tooth wear.
Because dryer girth gears are generally smaller and carry less torque than their mill counterparts, cast steel construction is often the most cost-effective choice.
