The Gear Shaft is an essential component designed for precision transmission in various machinery and equipment, providing reliable power transfer in industries such as automotive, manufacturing, and robotics. Whether you're optimizing a high-performance engine, improving automation systems, or enhancing conveyor belt operations, our Gear Shaft ensures durability and efficiency in demanding environments. Engineered for seamless integration, it helps streamline operations and boost productivity while reducing downtime and maintenance costs.
Product Introduction
A gear shaft integrates gear teeth directly onto the shaft body—a configuration used wherever space constraints or torque capacity requirements make a separate gear-and-shaft assembly impractical. Common in planetary drives, inline reducers, and heavy-duty mill gearboxes, the gear shaft must deliver both precise tooth geometry and accurate shaft alignment in a single component.
Hanwei produces gear shafts as integral forgings, eliminating the weak points associated with shrink-fit or keyed gear assemblies. The continuous forged grain structure from shaft through gear tooth root provides superior fatigue resistance, especially in reversing-load applications where the transition zone between shaft and gear teeth is most vulnerable. Our manufacturing sequence: forge → normalize/temper → CNC turn → hob teeth → heat treat → grind teeth and journals. This integrated workflow, entirely within our 100,000 m² facility, ensures quality consistency and short lead times.
Tooth grinding on our 2.5 m Höfler and 5 m NILES machines achieves DIN Grade 6 accuracy with surface hardness up to 380 HB. Journal grinding maintains IT5 cylindricity with Ra ≤ 0.8 μm surface finish. Concentricity between gear pitch cylinder and shaft journals is held within 0.02 mm. For gear shafts with splined or flanged connection features, we machine these interfaces to match your existing coupling or bearing specifications precisely. Our engineering team verifies all interface dimensions before production begins.
When replacing a gear shaft in an existing gearbox, we can reverse-engineer from the worn component or from the mating parts, ensuring correct tooth geometry and interface fit without original drawings.Warranty: 1 year standard, 3 years for special designs.
